Jupiter from Mt Wilson 800

Up far too late, but I couldn’t turn in without posting these. Full report to follow. I took both photos with my Nikon Coolpix 4500. That’s Io next to Jupiter, by the way.

    Fantastic detail in the bands in your Jupiter image.


  2. I was going to ask what was occulting Jupiter, and then I scrolled a bit and saw that it was a spot on my monitor.


  3. Thanks for the kind words, Steve. I’d love to come up to the Webb Schools sometime. Do you know if the PVAA is planning anything for Galilean Nights? I was wondering if the library would be open to hosting a sidewalk astronomy event, if we supplied the scopes and manpower.

    Nathan, the Monitor Occultation is second only to the Dirt On My Eyepiece Occultation for annoying.
